By marshalling the resources of California's legal community, the California Bar Foundation acts as a catalyst for improving the California justice system. Since its founding in 1990, the Foundation has:

• Distributed more than $3.4 million in grants to nonprofit organizations, courts, the State Bar of California, and local, specialty, and minority bar associations for law-related projects

• Awarded more than $2.1 million in scholarships to law students and recent law school graduates who have demonstrated a commitment to public service, academic excellence, and financial need

• Educated millions of seniors, young adults, children, and parents about their rights and responsibilities under the law through our sponsorship of the State Bar's education publication series

The Foundation makes these significant investments in California communities through its grants, scholarship, and education programs. We fund innovative projects that improve access to and understanding of the justice system, support efforts to broadly educate the public - children, teenagers, adults, and seniors - about their legal rights and obligations, and encourage law students and lawyers to give back to their communities through public interest and volunteer work.

The funding for all of our programs comes from our corporate sponsors, the state's lawyers, and our other donors.
